Food & Nutrition
Nutrition is important to us an a high quality childcare who desire healthy lifestyle for our children. Feeding the children healthful meals will help them to build up their bodies and increase their learning.
For that reason, we cook with certain ingredients, such as garlic, ginger, and cinnamon which are great for the immune system (you may try it home).
Children need a well planned variety of meals and snacks that provide the nutrients needed for a child’s physical health and cognitive development. Therefore, between the daycare and home it’s our responsibility to pay close attention to what they are fed.
Homemade Meals from scratch
I may be old fashioned, but I love to cook! we serve an eclectic style of food. We celebrate the diversity in our daycare, and we try all foods. We don’t believe in forcing a child to eat; we believe in encouraging them to try new things before saying no. We believe they should enjoy their food and I find that when they are involved in the meal preparations it increase their appetite to eat.
Majority of the meals that are served in our daycares are all homemade, with the exception of most snack items. I’m not big on the baking, but we I’m working on it…haha!
Prayer and Table Manners
Zacky enjoying his finger-licking chicken 🙂 Our children all pray together before they eat, saying, “God is good, God is great. Let us thank Him for our food, Amen.” For younger children, they will say, “thank you God for food, Amen!” They are also taught to a use their spoons and forks, and to remain seated on their bum when eating. They are trained to bring their plates to their caregivers when finished.
They love having these responsibilities as it gets them involved and make them know that they are important and needed – a big kid!
